From $119/hr + GST. I have over 5000 hours of classroom experience as a high school math teacher. Being a teacher has given me the skills to explain concepts in different ways. Who would you trust to chauffeur you around, a learner driver or someone with years of experience? (FYI – I also have over 30 years of driving experience).
I only tutor online. I’ve tutored face to face before but believe online has many benefits. Face to face can be a little invasive of children’s personal space, if I’m trying to look over their shoulder or sit close to them to see them working out. The whiteboard I use allows me to see them working in real time, so it’s very efficient as I can immediately advise the student if they have made an error. Plus, online is very flexible if a student needs to reschedule due to sickness or other commitment.
I have a paid subscription to the whiteboard, which is included to the student as part of my hourly rate. It’s very easy to use and colourful, making it perfect for students. Plus, you can also easily draw shapes when drawing graphs etc. As stated above, it’s very efficient as it allows me to see the student working in real time.
Zoom, which I also have a paid subscription for. Once again, it’s included to the student as part of my hourly rate. Zoom is also easy to use, and it allows the student to share their screen with me if they want to do their homework using an online program such as Mathspace or Mathletics.
No, I just need to send it once. I advise the student to save that email somewhere safe so that they can click on the link before each session. If they lose the email, I can easily send them a new one.
I have a Bachelor of Applied Science (Mathematics), Graduate Diploma in Teaching and almost 6 years experience as a (predominantly) high school math teacher in Queensland.
